Equipment of the department of radiation technologies
Base equipment for production of radiation damages is the high energy accelerator of heavy ions UTI-2
Accelerator UTI-2 generates beams of ions of metals with energy to 1,2 MeV and gases to 400 keV at current density 20-50 mka/cm2. Such characteristics are suitable for performing of all enumerated activities.
As well as problems enumerated above this accelerator may be used as irradiating facility for carrying out of following investigations:
- influence of irradiation on mechanical and corrosion characteristics of structural materials;
- influence of ion beams on resistance of nanocrystalline structures produced at the expense of combined mechanical effect;
- investigation of irradiation influence on structure of transient area coating-base;
- treatment by beams of heavy metal ions of the surface of alloys on the base of titanium and zirconium for the improvement of their physical-mechanical characteristics;
- investigation of the behavior of hydrogen and deuterium and their interaction with helium in so-called low Z coatings (carbides of refractory metals) of the first wall of FR.
