Project title:
Organisation of the manufacture of CdTe (CdZnTe) detecting modules for X-and gamma-radiation
The mission of the Project is to set up a production business which will manufacture small lots of high-tech Detecting Modules (DM) for X-ray and gamma-ray registration. NSC KIPT developed detecting modules from CdTe and CZT during the last 15 years and in isolated cases marketed them. The own technology of manufacturing DM was elaborated. Since sensors with CdTe (CZT) are in the growing demand in different areas of industry and science, which are connected with an ionizing radiation, the time has come to organize a small-lot production of them. The Project envisages also the creation of new jobs.
Total Project cost was £195,900. Investor: British Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Program CNCP. The contribution of DTI is £158,700. Sources of other investment are National Science Centre KIPT of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
Duration: two years, 02.2009 - 01.2011
The realization of the project has allowed:
The project envisages the manufacture of three modules (DM) for detecting X- and gamma-rays which differ in their characteristics and applicability. A specificity of a such product is that it is not the functionally finished device (dosimeter, spectrometer) but is only a part of it, though the most important and sophisticated part in the technological aspect. Any radiation-measuring device contains inside a sensor together with a preamplifier.
Specimens of the housed detecting modules designed for the dosimetry of X- and gamma-ray radiation with sensors from semiconductor compounds CdTe or CdZnTe are shown in figures. The developed and designed detecting modules have passed preliminary tests at the National Scientific Centre "Institute of Metrology" (Kharkov). The designer documentation has been also developed for the dosimetry detecting modules.
