Department of pure metals, physics of metals and technology of new materials / R&D laboratory of new technological designing / R&D Activity
Our current research activities and interests include:
- Development of a variety of devices on the basis of CdTe, CdZnTe detectors, including those for nuclear power plants, Chernobyl zone, nuclear waste depositories, customs, medicine, technologies using gamma radiation, as well as personal dosimeters
- Purification and refining of the starting materials, element analysis of alloys and their components, manufacture of graphite equipment, heaters, crucibles for growth of CZT (together with “Institute of Single Crystals”, Kharkov, Ukraine)
- Detector fabrication and packaging; beryllium windows fabrication
- Testing of the commercially produced materials by (CdTe, CdTe, ZnSe).
- Development of the associated electronics for detectors (charge sensitive spectroscopic preamplifiers, amplitude discriminators, analog-digital converter, pulse shape discriminators, amplifiers).
- Irradiation measurements and detector radiation hardness testing (gamma irradiation up to 7.5 Мrad/s, electron and 14 MeV neutron irradiation in fluxes up to 1013 n/cm2×s).
- Detector properties modification by gamma-radiation, thermal treatment and hot gas-static treatment.
- Imitating simulation of dosimeter and spectrometer γ-ray detectors
We are open for collaboration on the above and related items either on bilateral basis or in a frame of international projects (INTAS, NATO, COPERNICUS, EUROATOM, etc.).
